Job description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in South San Francisco, CA! About the Role

As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in South San Francisco, CA! Details: In-Person Tutoring in South San Francisco, CA! Schedule: 20 hours per month; 4-5 sessions per week for 1 hour Rate is betweem $25 and $35 per hour Ideal Candidate: Valid teaching credential required (Special Education strongly preferred) Bilingual in English and Arabic (preferred) Experience working with students with intellectual and learning disabilities Experience supporting nonverbal or minimally verbal students using alternative communication methods Strong background in foundational literacy instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight words Experience teaching early math skills such as number recognition, counting, and basic operations Knowledge of fine motor development and early writing instruction (tracing, letter formation) Skilled in using multisensory, visual, and highly structured teaching strategies Patient, consistent, and able to provide repetitive instruction with clear modeling Ability to adapt instruction significantly to meet early developmental learning levels Key Responsibilities: Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including letter recognition, phonemic awareness, phonics, and early decoding Support development of early writing skills through tracing, guided practice, and fine motor activities Deliver math instruction focused on early numeracy skills, including counting, number recognition, and simple operations Use visual supports, gestures, repetition, and step-by-step modeling to support understanding Incorporate alternative communication methods (e.g., Google Translate, visuals) to support comprehension and expression Implement highly structured, predictable sessions with consistent routines Adapt grade-level material to an accessible, foundational level Incorporate multisensory activities to reinforce learning and retention Use student interests (e.g., computer games, pets) to increase engagement and motivation Provide a calm, supportive, and patient learning environment Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student responsiveness Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies Why Tutor Me Education?
