Job description

St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, located in Hydes, MD is seeking a qualified, full-time Teacher’s Aide for Pre-K for the 2026–2027 academic school year.

A Preschool Teacher’s Aide supports the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. The aide assists with classroom activities, supervises children, and helps promote social, emotional, and educational development while reinforcing faith-based principles.

  • Essential Functions
  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities ·
  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, nap time, and outdoor activities
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
  • Support children’s social and emotional development through positive guidance and Catholic values
  • Prepare and set up learning materials, crafts, and activities
  • Help children with basic needs
  • Monitor children’s behavior and report concerns to the lead teacher
  • Assist with record-keeping and documentation as needed
  • Communicate respectfully with children, staff, and parents
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Model and encourage Catholic values such as kindness, respect, compassion, and gratitude
  • Assist in simple prayers, religious activities, and age-appropriate faith formation
  • Help foster a classroom environment rooted in Christian love and moral development
  • Position Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and take initiative
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy classroom environment
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting preferred.
  • Coursework in early childhood education (preferred)
  • Previous experience working with young children (preferred)
  • CPR and First Aid certification (may be required or obtained after hire)
  • Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic faith and the Archdiocese of Baltimore Catholic Schools

Pay Range

$17.00 - $19.00, Hourly
