Barton College - Wilson, NC 27893Adjunct faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to support the College’s academic mission through quality instruction, student engagement, and academic excellence. Courses may be offered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format, depending on departmental needs. Teaching Opportunities Adjunct teaching opportunities may be available in the following subject areas: English/College Writing/First-year Composition Mathematics Mass Communications Spanish Criminal Justice Education Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
Adjunct faculty responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course syllabi and learning outcomes Develop and deliver engaging instruction that supports student success Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning Provide timely evaluation and feedback on student assignments and assessments Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course documentation Submit final grades by published deadlines Communicate regularly with students and respond to inquiries in a timely manner Utilize the College’s learning management system (LMS) and instructional technology as required Maintain professionalism and comply with College policies and procedures Participate in required training, orientation, and meetings as applicable QualificationsRequired Qualifications Master’s degree in the discipline or a closely related field from an accredited institution Ability to teach at the college level with strong communication skills Commitment to supporting diverse learners and maintaining academic standards
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience in higher education Experience teaching online or hybrid courses Professional experience in the discipline area Experience using an LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) Doctorate in the discipline or related field (where applicable) Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed based on course scheduling Successful completion of background check and employment verification Before submitting your application, please be sure to indicate the subject for which you are applying within the School.
