Work Shift Day Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Summary This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by preparing curriculum and delivering training to end users for clinical, evidence-based and technical content. This ensures that staff have the tools necessary to provide patient care as well as accurately document the patient visit and treatment.

Job Duties Understand basic principles of adult education Deliver training to end users Prepare curriculum for training/education Serve as education resource to the organization Communicate with members of various levels within the organization Accurately assess the end user population and training/education they will receive based on role Teach and collaborate with other facilitators Serve as a support function on the floors Coordinate various training sessions with available resources Assist with clinical simulation exercises Teach clinical content based on evidence to adult learners at all levels of the organization Participate in workflow demonstrations Document workflows in Visio Attend Epic training and certify in application Use Excel proficiently to complete Epic tools, such as Training Calculator and Lesson Plan Matrix Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries. Department Specific Duties Organizational Development: Facilitate periodic student surveys to access Epic use within the classroom

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent presentation skills, excellent customer relation skills Ability to establish rapport with hospital staff and management level staff Self-starter; ability to initiate projects, plan own activities and make decisions within the framework of the responsibility and authority of the job. Must possess self-confidence in ability to facilitate &/or teach both large and small groups. Serve as positive role model and function as a change agent in creating a preferred future for staff development and continuing education. Willingness to assist in using simulation training equipment pertinent to the healthcare environment. Ability to operate audiovisual equipment, including slide projects, overhead projectors and PowerPoint applications, virtual applications (i.e. Zoom,), etc. Professional Experience Epic end user or trainer experience highly desired, but will consider previous 3 years relevant training/education facilitation experience. Experience in staff development and/or continuing education desired. Two to three years clinical nursing experience desired. Education Either High school Diploma/Equivalent or Associates Degree or healthcare related certification (Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practicing Nurse) is required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, community health education or related field preferred. Licensure, Certification, Registration If a nurse, must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa. The Department requires Epic Certification within one year of hire or transfer.
