- Category: Teacher Position Purpose The Preschool Music and Movement Teacher is responsible for developing and teaching the LCS preschool music curriculum and for creating a dynamic learning environment for students. This position is also responsible for preparing and orchestrating preschool worship times and all preschool performance opportunities. Essential Functions Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. Prepare and orchestrate preschool worship times. Prepare and orchestrate preschool performance times. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and interaction. Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate with students. Prepare differentiated lessons, activities and observe to evaluate students’ progress. Provide a variety of materials (music, songs, movement opportunities) and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use to support activities. Demonstrate a proficiency in singing or use of a musical instrument. Supervise students inside and outside of the classroom and playground activities. Provide support to teachers in class, during lunch time, and other times as needed. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence. Organize and lead all preschool music programs, chapels, and worship times. Instill the love of Christ through music, movement, and song. Adhere to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and trainings. Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the school. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related subject preferred. Three years’ experience at the grade of age level. Excellent verbal skills with students, colleagues, and parents. Demonstrated organizational skills. Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written). Ability to instruct and model desirable skills and attitude. Ability to remain productive and maintain control under stress. Ability to maintain a clear focus on a positive student experience. Christian role model. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Works in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. Regularly use close and distance vision. May stand for extended periods of time. Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment. Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Full-time, ten-month employee August - May. Qualifications
