About the role

The Adjunct Professor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate education programs while integrating theory with practice. They will also supervise student teachers, maintain accurate academic records, and collaborate with partner schools to support student development.

The Adjunct Professor in the School of Education is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in undergraduate and/or graduate education programs. This role supports the University’s mission by preparing future educators through rigorous academic instruction, practical application, and a commitment to student success. The Adjunct Professor integrates theory with practice and contributes to the development of effective, reflective, and culturally responsive educators.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in areas such as teacher education, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, special education, or related disciplines.
  • Develop and deliver course content aligned with approved curriculum, state standards, and program learning outcomes.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods and technologies to support diverse learners.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course materials.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, assessments, and field-based activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding course expectations and academic progress.
  • Hold office hours (virtual or in-person) to support student learning and development
  • Supervise or support student teachers, interns, or practicum placements.
  • Collaborate with partner schools and mentor teachers.
  • Evaluate student performance in field-based settings.
  • Adhere to approved course syllabi and ensure alignment with accreditation standards and state licensure requirements.
  • Submit grades and required documentation within established deadlines.
  • Comply with University policies, including academic integrity and FERPA guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with department leadership and administrative staff.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Education
  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
  • Relevant professional experience in K–12 education, educational leadership, or related field.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Education or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline. Additionally, relevant professional experience in K–12 education or educational leadership is required.
