Job Overview

To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary school classroom that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Responsibilities

  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students..
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Create standard based lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year. Upload lesson plans to Atlas.
  • Maintain grade books in Power School that are updated regularly.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by implementing approved disciplinary procedures.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Assist with coverage of other classes as needed.
  • Assist with arrivals and dismissal of students.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues.
  • Selects books, instructional aids and supplies that aid in the teaching of the curriculum.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification - completed or in progress.
  • Communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Federal, state, and child abuse background checks required.
