Job Summary The Middle School Language Arts Teacher is responsible for developing students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking for grades 6–8.

As a member of a Catholic school community, the teacher integrates faith, values, and Catholic teachings into instruction while fostering a supportive and respectful classroom environment.Job Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging Language Arts instruction aligned with state standards and diocesan guidelines Teach reading comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, vocabulary, and writing (narrative, informational, and argumentative) Select and teach age-appropriate literature, including novels, short stories, poetry, and nonfiction Encourage critical thinking through discussion, writing assignments, and projects Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction based on data Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Integrate Catholic values and teachings into lessons where appropriate Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment rooted in respect and responsibility Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress Collaborate with colleagues and participate in faculty meetings and school initiatives Support and participate in the faith life of the school (e.g., Mass, prayer services, retreats) Job Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field Valid teaching certification (middle school or secondary ELA preferred; requirements vary by diocese) Experience teaching or working with middle school students Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and writing development

Requirements
