  • Job Summary The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • In a Catholic school setting, the substitute supports the academic program while modeling Christian values, maintaining classroom structure, and contributing to a respectful, faith-filled learning environment.Job Responsibilities Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular teacher Deliver instruction across various subjects and grade levels (typically K–8 or high school, depending on assignment) Maintain classroom order and enforce school rules and policies Ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment Take attendance and manage daily classroom routines Adapt to different classrooms, subjects, and grade levels as needed Communicate relevant information about student behavior or progress to school staff Supervise students during class, transitions, lunch, recess, or dismissal as assigned Respect and support the Catholic identity and mission of the school, including participation in prayer or religious activities when appropriate Job Requirements Valid substitute teaching license/permit (as required by state/diocese) Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting Ability to follow directions and manage a classroom effectively The Archdiocese of St.
