Family & Child Empowerment Services (FACES) SF provides families who live and work in San Francisco with high-quality early childhood education and enrichment; job support, training, and placement; and comprehensive family support services and referrals. Position Summary
Our BASECAMP Group Leaders provide educational, enrichment, and social emotional support for 90 school-age children. If you are passionate about providing engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning and enrichment opportunities for school-age children, this could be a great opportunity for you! This position is part-time through the school year and a full-time position during the summer, and reports to the BASECAMP Program Manager.
- What You’ll Do
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learner-centered environment
- Plan, modify and deliver daily lessons aligned with the Desired Results Developmental Profile School-Age©(DRDP) assessment
- Complete weekly developmental observations of each child using DRDP criteria
- Collaborate with other group leaders to co-facilitate lesson plans and engaging materials
- Incorporate academic content and skill development that contributes to participants’ school-based learning and helps address the achievement gap
- Participate in off-site field trips to expand participants’ experience and access to learning
- Facilitate and co-facilitate and support lessons with outside specialists and partnership programs
- Support participants’ social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
- Use age-appropriate positive guidance techniques and model behavior for children
- Follow all program policies and procedures, including security check out using Learning Genie
- Incorporate exercise and physical activities to promote health and well-being
- Build intentional and meaningful relationships with and among children
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience working with school-age children in an out-of-school time setting preferred
- Knowledge and experience in youth development program and principles
- Experience supervising and leading field trips, utilizing public transportation
- Ability to maintain boundaries and communicate effectively with school-age children
- Ability to connect with camp participants genuinely and with positive reinforcement
- Ability to motivate and spark curiosity and a joy of learning among camp participants
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with peers, families, and partners
- Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 20 lbs
- Ability to meet required state, federal, local, and CDC standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, CPR)

Commitment
Program Leaders will commit to work Monday-Friday; 25 hours per week 12:30pm-5:30pm. During the summer the position is full time.
