Specifically, we are looking for counselors who have high energy, who are willing to play games, teach life skills through healthy activities and most important be a role model for our campers. Seasonal Hiring Process
- Potential counselors must complete an online application and resume.
- Your application materials will be reviewed and we will determine if we feel that you would be a strong candidate for Camp Hillside.
- If so, we will contact you to begin the interview process.
- This consists of 2 interviews: a group interview with Camp Administration and an individual interview with the Camp Directors.
- If after the second interview you are still a candidate for hire, we will conduct reference checks. (four references).
- If the references are good, we will make you an official job offer, then process a Criminal Background check (CORI and SORI).
- Once your background is clear, we will start the official hiring and paperwork process, where you will be trained and readied for a great summer!
Camp this summer runs from 8
30 am to 4:00 pm. Staff hours are dependent upon camper enrollment numbers but can be between 7:30am - 5:30pm. There are mandatory trainings prior to the start of camp that must be completed in order to work. Trainings will be held throughout the month of May. Must be commited to work all through Camp season June 15th through August 28th.
Day Camp Counselor General Function
The counselor will help supervise and lead a group of youth in daily activities. (S)he will have a positive outlook on summer activities and is willing to help children grow to their full potential. Staff will provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth and will be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all Camp Hillside formalities and activities.
Entry Requirements
- Prior childcare experience preferred
- At least 16 years of age as of June 01, 2026
- Ability and experience in supervising and leading children.
- Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable.
- Sound judgment, integrity, problem solving skills and risk management.
- Human relation skills with general public and staff.
- Creative program planning and implementation.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Positive attitude and ability to build a cohesive team.
- Willingness to go above and beyond the written job description.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications. (We provide training if you do not have it yet).
