Summer Academic Instructor - Flagstaff, AZ

• Sophos Speech and Academics Flagstaff Summer Academic Instructor Sophos Speech and Academics is seeking a Summer Academic Instructor to deliver individualized, high-quality instruction for students in kindergarten through 6th grade as part of our Flagstaff Summer Program.
• Sessions are conducted in individualized or small group formats at the Pine Canyon and Forest Highlands clubhouses, private student residences, or other agreed locations throughout the Flagstaff area.
• Instructors support core academic areas including reading, writing, math, and study skills in a personalized, high-quality setting.
• This is an independent contractor (1099) position within a structured seasonal program.
• Service Window Sessions are scheduled during summer program hours, generally between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
• Compensation $30 to $35 per instructional hour, commensurate with experience and scope of services.

Responsibilities

Deliver individualized and small group academic instruction across K–6 subjects Align instruction to parent-selected curriculum or individualized learning goals Foster organization, study skills, and independent learning habits Adapt pacing and approach to each student's learning style Communicate session progress and relevant updates to Sophos administration Maintain accurate and timely session documentation Travel to the Pine Canyon and Forest Highlands clubhouses, student residences, or agreed instruction locations throughout the Flagstaff area Uphold professional, polished communication with families at all times Preferred Areas of Strength Multi-subject instruction across elementary levels Executive function and study skills Literacy and written language support Foundational math instruction Experience serving private, homeschool, or high-expectation academic environments

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience instructing K–6 students Ability to independently support multiple academic subjects Reliable transportation Valid Arizona IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, or ability to obtain one prior to providing services Professional, polished, and at ease working within private club and residential settings Work Relationship Seasonal independent contractor, 1099 classification Schedule is family-driven and varies throughout the summer This is a seasonal program position; ongoing assignments beyond the summer are not guaranteed
