Through KIPP Forward, we continue to support our alumni as they navigate college, career, and life, helping them define success on their own terms and pursue the paths that align with their goals and sense of purpose.Together, we serve more than 9,400 students, support 4700 alumni, and employ over 1,100 dedicated team members who bring passion, expertise, and commitment to our mission every day.Job DescriptionThe ICT SPED teacher will co-teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion classroom setting to support all students in the classroom. The ICT teacher will co-plan and deliver lessons that incorporate multiple learning modalities, adapt and modify instruction, and create strategies and meaningful interventions to support students’ learning. KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, to develop academic as well as character skills, and to make a college preparatory education relevant both now and for the future.

Duties and Responsibilities

General responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Planning and implementing a rigorous college preparatory curriculum aligned with Common Core standards.Bringing joy and hope to the classroom.Committing to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration.Constantly assessing student progress, communicating results to families and colleagues, and adjusting instruction accordingly.Providing individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistanceModeling a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure that each student is successful.Modeling KIPP NYC’s character strengths in all interactions and communications with students, families, and staff.QualificationsStrong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferredNew York State Special Education teacher certification is highly recommended Bachelor’s degree requiredA passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school cultureA strong desire to become a better teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team and familyDemonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within our KIPP NYC communitiesAdditional InformationCompensation and Benefits:KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829 - $136,704. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate’s years of experience, certification, and longevity at the point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale. KIPP NYC offers a generous benefits package, including, but not limited to, the following:Robust benefits include medical, dental, and vision. Generous time off including 5 school vacation weeks, sick and personal days, and an extended summer break. Up to 12 weeks of 100% parental leave. Requirements
