Coaches are responsible for leading weekly practices and weekend games while following age-appropriate curriculum guidelines. They must maintain a positive, inclusive environment and communicate effectively with players, parents, and staff.
Alexandria Soccer Association (ASA) is seeking energetic and committed coaches to join our team and support players across a variety of youth programs. These programs include, but are not limited to, Junior Academy, Ball Mastery, Tots, Academy, and the Alexandria Growth Program (AGP).
Coaches are responsible for leading weekly practices and weekend games or events, following age-appropriate curriculum and training guidelines provided by ASA’s technical staff. Coaches play a vital role in player development, creating a fun and educational environment that encourages learning, effort, and a love for the game.
Additional paid opportunities may be available through camps, clinics, tournaments, or seasonal training programs.
Key Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Lead one or more practices per week, aligned with ASA’s curriculum and player development goals.
Coach games or weekend events, including setup, player rotation, and in-game support.
Promote sportsmanship and teamwork by modeling respect for players, opponents, referees, and other coaches.
Communicate proactively and professionally with parents, players, and ASA staff.
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and player-centered environment at all sessions.
Sample Schedule (subject to program needs): Weekday practices typically take place between 4:30-7:30 pm Weekend games or events typically take place between 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
Experience working with children (e.g., coaching, teaching, camp counseling, mentoring, babysitting, etc.) Enthusiastic, dependable, and passionate about youth development through sport Strong interpersonal and communication skills Reliable transportation and commitment to punctuality Physical Requirements: The job may require the coach to function in high-activity indoor and outdoor sports venues and to be exposed to inclement weather of varying degrees. While performing the duties of this job, the coach may be required to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances. The coach may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, lift, and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Candidates should have experience working with children and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions at sports venues.
