  • Duties: The APRN is a skilled healthcare provider who has completed an educational program that provides specialized certification and is regulated by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. An APRN manifests a high level of expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating actual and potential health problems of pediatric patients and their families. An APRN possesses an advanced knowledge level, skill, and competence in the provision of care to specific patient and family populations and serves across the care continuum as a clinical resource for patients, families, staff, and the community.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing plus one year of experience as an APRN required. Currently licensed by ARSBN as an APRN. Certification in the area of pediatrics or family medicine. Frequent travel to outreach clinics required.

Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical services for patients according to established protocols and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards in collaboration with a physician. Obtain patient health histories, complete physical examinations, and interpret hemodynamic data. Document pertinent normal and abnormal findings. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Formulate and implement a treatment plan for the management of acute and chronic illnesses in collaboration with the physician. Document in medical records appropriately. Provide family-centered care to meet the child’s health care needs. Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice. Participate in staff education and educate other APRN/PA students, residents, and/or fellows. Provide leadership and professional interaction within your team or to team members. Coordinate with families the care and progress of their child in person, by telephone, or by email as appropriate. Communicate with others with mutual respect and professional demeanor. Adhere to all standard policies and procedures. Participate in QI or research projects as deemed necessary by your department. Provides comprehensive health assessments, coordinates health care, collaborates with other medical professionals, and DCFS staff as a part of the multi-disciplinary Project for Adolescents and Child Evaluations (PACE). Perform other duties as assigned.
