The Group Leader provides direct service and supervision to program participants of all ages through scheduled recreational activities and special events. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment, managing attendance, and acting as a positive role model for youth.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for experience in youth development and community work. Candidates must be able to pass NYC DOH fingerprinting and New York State Register clearance.
Safely and attentively supervise assigned group. Coordinate, supervise, and facilitate scheduled program activities as assigned, including snack times, off-site field trips, special events, and transitions as needed. Take daily attendance, log accidents/incidents. Ensure the safe dismissal of youth participants. Act as a positive role model to youth participants and promote team-building and respect for self and others. Communicate and interact with participants of all ages in a professional, welcoming, and appropriate manner. Intervene, mediate, and problem-solve where potential conflict arises with participants; alert on-site supervisor of any emergencies. Maintain a safe environment for participants. Work collaboratively with co-workers and cooperatively with supervisors. Participate in meetings and professional development sessions as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success and smooth operation of the Cornerstone program.
