Job Title: Youth Sports Instructor

Position summary

Under the direction of the Youth Development Director the Youth Sports Instructor will help teach all levels of sports and character development in a positive atmosphere that will allow the participants to learn and grow.

Essential functions

  • 1.
  • Teach sports skills to kids from beginners to advanced 2.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions 3.
  • Teach participants about healthy lifestyles and nutrition 4.
  • Act as a role model for YMCA Core Values 5.
  • Help create a climate that fosters YMCA goals and a fun, engaging atmosphere for all participants 6.
  • Proper care and storage of sports equipment 7.
  • Supervision of participants at all points of the day 8.
  • Generate new ideas to implement into the schedule 9.
  • Supervise and help train volunteers 10.
  • All duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must have working knowledge of all principles of health and fitness.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Community CPR, First Aid, & AED required within 30 days of hire.

Physical requirement

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 30 pounds in weight.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
