  • Range: $8,000.00 - $8,000.00 Salary/yearThe Summer Boost program is an academic support program for students in grades 3 through 8 who are three or more years behind in both Math and Reading. Summer Boosts runs from June 23 - July 24. The Summer Boost program uses the Lavinia curriculum to improve students’ proficiency in reading and math. In addition to the academic program, Summer Boost offers an enrichment program for students each afternoon. Position
  • Responsibilities
  • The responsibilities include but not limited to: Experience as a current or former ELA/English teacher; Deliver high-quality, standards-aligned English instruction using the Summer Boost curriculum; Student results in academic acceleration; Plan and facilitate engaging lessons that build reading, writing, and discussion skills; Administer and support pre- and post-assessments and use results to adjust instruction; Implement curriculum with fidelity while making appropriate scaffolds to ensure access for all students; Create a structured, positive classroom environment that maximizes learning time; Monitor student progress and provide targeted support and feedback; Collaborate with the Summer Program Lead and peers to align instruction and share best practices; Communicate with families, as needed, regarding student progress and program expectations; Partner with enrichment staff to help students connect academic learning to enrichment experiences.
  • QualificationsThe ideal candidate will posses: Experience as a current or former literacy or reading teacher A proven track record of accelerating students multiple years below grade level Strong instructional practice in literacy with a deep understanding of reading, and writing instruction Student results in academic acceleration Ability to execute provided curriculum with fidelity while adjusting for student needs Uses assessment data to identify needs and adapt teaching Builds a focused, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes productive struggle and student discourse Works effectively with colleagues and program leadership to align instruction and share strategies Communicates effectively with students, staff, and families Adapts quickly to student needs and the fast-paced nature of a summer program
