PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Associate Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for employees, including staff, faculty, and students visiting or contacting the HR office. This position supports the HR department by responding to general inquiries, directing employees to the appropriate HR contact, and assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks. The Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring efficient HR operations and delivering a positive employee experience. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This information is intended to be a descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. Serve as the initial point of contact for employees, answering general HR questions and directing inquiries to the appropriate HR staff. Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs in areas such as benefits, payroll, leave administration, and general HR processes. Provide administrative support to various HR functions, including, but not limited to, benefits, payroll, employee relations, training & development, recruitments, and onboarding. Maintain HR files, records, and databases ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Assist with compliance tracking, including maintaining required trainings and ensuring HR documentation meets regulatory standards. Support employee engagement initiatives and assist with HR communications, newsletters, or announcements. Translate basic HR documents or communications into Spanish as needed and provide interpretation support for Spanish-speaking employees. Perform other HR-related duties as assigned to support departmental needs. Serve as liaison and information resource for faculty and staff, consults with General Counsel and others on problems, and determines final resolution. Other duties and/or projects as assigned by leadership. Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Institutional Values in the performance of job duties. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Basic understanding of HR principles and practices, including benefits, payroll, and recruitment processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with diverse employees and provide excellent customer service; customer-service oriented collaborative team environment. High level of confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn HRIS systems. Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset. Ability to use interpersonal skills, think, reason, and make sound judgments when working with employees regarding support requested. Ability to grasp concepts and procedures quickly. Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and an understanding of information technology and relational database applications. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job. Spanish-speaking candidate is preferred. LICENSES / CERTIFICATES: Human Resources Certification (e.g. PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred. OTHER: HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS: This is a regular status, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt position. The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department. Hourly rate range: $22.50-$24.50. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
