About the Program

As a discipline that documents and interprets continuity and change through time, CSUCI’s History Program prepares students to search into the human experience, as well as to communicate and analyze historical interpretations and ideas, verbally and in the written from. An emphasis of the program is to examine events from local and global perspectives.

About the Position

  • The History Department is seeking qualified applicants for its lecturer faculty pool.
  • We are seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach the following courses, pending enrollment: U.S.
  • History to 1877 & U.S.
  • History Since 1877.
  • The faculty member is expected to be able to teach varied teaching modalities, including in-person and online modalities.

Minimum Degree Requirements

M.A. in History or equivalent/related field

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the college or university level
  • Appropriate training in United States History to teach undergraduate courses
  • Commitment to student-centered, inclusive pedagogy that supports diverse learners
  • Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of ability to teach in varied teaching modalities (face-to-face, online asynchronous, or hybrid asynchronous/in-person) to fulfill specific department needs as they arise.
  • PhD in History of equivalent/related field

Responsibilities

To teach assigned classes and carry out related duties, such as holding office hours, grading, planning lessons, and communicating with students outside of scheduled class time.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
