Purpose

Texas Athletics Equipment is looking for passionate and service-oriented student managers to serve with the Basketball program. Designed for students interested in a career in intercollegiate athletics, student managers will assist in the daily operations that support the program while continuing to expand their knowledge of the sport and industry. Student Managers will report to the Athletic Equipment Manager.

Responsibilities

Support the Basketball Equipment Manager with the daily operations of practice and competitions, including set up and breakdown within the facility and on-field activities. Assist with the processing of laundry services and inventorying of equipment and apparel (uniforms and practice loops) following games and practices. Demonstrate a high attention to detail to ensure game and practice equipment properly functions and adheres to safety standards Maintain the organization and inventory of equipment and apparel in equipment rooms Partake in occasional travel with the team Assist in other duties as needed Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Education Code Sec. 51.252, this position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence and Stalking. Required Qualifications: Played High School Basketball Excellent interpersonal skills, tactful, including the ability to deal with diverse personalities in stressful circumstances. Ability to demonstrate trustworthiness, dedication, loyalty, confidentiality and discretion. Ability to work well in a team environment Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin enrolled in at least 12 class hours each semester (NCAA Requirement) Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Pursuing a degree or career in a sports-related field Experience in intercollegiate athletics and/or as a student manager for a sports team Experience and/or knowledge of Basketball at the NCAA level Valid Texas Driver’s License that is not currently suspended or revoked and maintains an acceptable driving record.

Salary Range

$9+/hour depending on qualifications/relevant experience Working Conditions: Ability to rebounding and pass a basketball Use of manual dexterity Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Climbing of stairs May work in all weather conditions, including inclement and extreme weather/temperatures May work around loud noises May work around standard office conditions Some heavy lifting and moving up to 50lbs. may be required Work Shift: Appointed on a semester basis (Rehire eligible based on performance) Work will be performed in-person, on campus Flexible; weekly hours vary between 6 AM – 11 PM based on practice and competition times and can be set around class schedules.
