Job description

Overview Busy but involved parents on the Upper West Side are seeking a live-out weekend nanny for their 2-year-old son. The usual schedule will be Saturday and Sunday, 10am-6pm, although they would appreciate some flexibility to allow for changes to the hours (advance notice will be given). The position will start as soon as the right person is found.

Responsibilities

This role involves working closely with the parents to align on routines, activities, and developmental goals. The parents will likely be around and so candidates must be open to tag-teaming, and with recognising when to be actively engaged and when to step back to allow family time. Responsibilities will include: Play-based, nursery-style learning Supporting language development through reading, songs, and conversation Age-appropriate activities such as sensory play, art, fine motor work, puzzles, pretend play Ensuring the child is dressed and appropriately groomed after waking from a nap Handling diaper changes and supporting age-appropriate toileting routines Assisting with the child’s meals and snacks as needed, including cleaning up afterward Encouraging independence and healthy habits (hand washing, tidying, transitions) Supporting age-appropriate social development Maintaining a tidy and organized play and nursery environment, including cleaning up after the child Helping with meal prep

Requirements

Experience with children ages 2-3 years Strong understanding of early childhood development Calm, confident, and engaged presence Comfortable blending teaching and caregiving Fluent English speaker Professional, reliable, and discreet Comfortable sharing the home with a friendly dog!
