Job Title: Teacher’s Aide
Job Overview
The Teacher's Aide supports the lead teacher in delivering a positive and productive learning environment. Responsibilities include assisting with lesson preparation, classroom management, and individualized student support to foster a nurturing educational experience focusing on safety and supervision.
Individuals who enjoy working with young children, demonstrate patience, and maintain reliable attendance will thrive in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices.
- Comply with DHS Child Care Licensing Hawaii Administrative Rules.
- Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher.
- Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities, lessons, and materials.
- Assist in assessing and documenting student progress and behavior.
- Assist with mealtime preparations and nap-time support.
- Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support learning objectives.
- Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness such as cleaning, sanitizing, toileting, and diapering, plus managing supplies and resources.
- Conduct yourself in an appropriate manner when dealing with children, other staff or parents, or during school activities on or off campus.
- Be sensitive and responsive to children's needs.
- Use positive modeling and behavior management.
- Follow school policies and procedures (maintain confidentiality).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age and have some experience working with young children.
- Must meet state licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance).
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
