  • We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Employment Training Specialist to support our mission by providing direct training, supervision, and vocational development to individuals participating in our programs.
  • POSITION OVERVIEW The Employment Training Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through vocational training, community-based instruction, and positive behavioral supports.
  • This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in diverse environments.
  • The role is hands-on, mission-driven, and essential to ensuring participant safety, growth, and success.

Responsibilities

Provide continual direct supervision and always ensure the safety of individuals Track and document attendance, locations, and movement using required tools Transport individuals to and from community sites using DRTC vehicles Provide task-specific training and support at enclave/volunteer sites Implement and document progress toward individual goals and outcomes Serve as first-level intervention for minor behavioral concerns using positive support Provide crisis intervention when necessary Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards Conduct vocational assessments and contribute to outcome planning Perform quality control checks on work completed at community sites Oversee medication administration if assigned to an enclave Maintain professional relationships with individuals, families, community partners, and staff Follow all safety-sensitive guidelines, including restrictions on personal cell phone use Perform other duties as assigned based on program needs

Qualifications

Associate degree in Education, Social Science, or a related field (preferred) 2+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred) Must be 18 years or older Must possess a valid Real ID Oklahoma Driver’s License (required to operate DRTC vehicles) Must be able to pass extensive drug screening and background checks Proficiency in Microsoft Office Experience with digital collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Asana, or Microsoft Teams Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize effectively Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a high standard for work quality Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to teach, coach, and mentor employees Creative, analytical, and driven individual who works well on a team Ability to be self‑sufficient, learn new skills quickly, and meet strict deadlines Additional Requirements: Ability to safely operate DRTC vehicles, including 12–15 passenger vans Ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 lbs. Ability to physically demonstrate first aid, CPR, AED use, seizure care, and the Heimlich maneuver Prolonged standing and/or sitting Training & Certifications (DRTC Sponsored) DDS-approved CPR/Standard First Aid Foundation Level Training (FLT) Effective Teaching and Learning (ETL) Medication Administration Technician (MAT), if assigned Employment Training Specialist (ETS) Certification Agency Staff Certification Test (ASCT) Ongoing job-specific and professional development Why Join DRTC?
