Camp Counselor

  • Pay: $16 / hr. Dale Rogers Training Center (DRTC) is seeking an energetic and responsible Camp Instructor to support our summer program for teenagers and young adults with disabilities. This role focuses on providing a fun, safe, and meaningful camp experience while helping participants build communication, independence, and pre‑employment skills.

Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision and ensure camper safety at all times Support daily camp activities with the Camp Director Model positive behavior and maintain age‑appropriate communication Assist with personal care (eating, changing, toileting) as needed Implement positive behavioral supports and crisis intervention Report incidents promptly and accurately Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA Serve as designated medical contact for emergencies (CPR, AED, seizure care, Heimlich)

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent Experience working with teens with disabilities preferred Experience providing instruction or training to students with disabilities Strong communication and decision‑making skills Ability to work independently in community settings

Requirements

18 years or older Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License Ability to pass OSBI, MVR, DHS Registry Check, references, and drug test Safety‑sensitive position Ability to stand up to 8 hours and lift up to 50 lbs Ability to perform CPR, AED use, seizure care, and Heimlich maneuver Reliable attendance and punctuality Work Environment: Summer program (June only) Indoor and outdoor community‑based activities Non‑exempt; overtime paid after 40 hours/week Why Join DRTC?
