  • Responsibilities (include but not limited to): The chance to collaborate with a group of 10 children alongside a teacher in training (mentee) to facilitate the preparation of these students for first grade. Responsible for providing for the physical, psychological and intellectual development of the children in the kindergarten classroom by providing a nurturing classroom environment, guidance, and educational learning, and by building trustful connections through keen observations of each child’s emotional, intellectual, and nutritional needs. The teacher supervises and trains the aides in the room as well as volunteers, student teachers, interns etc. to ensure that planned activities, health/safety protocols, and program expectation are met through modeling and fostering a willingness to learn. Lead and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for the kindergarten classroom in a way that is engaging, addresses the children’s social emotional, educational, and developmental needs. Carry out and/or supervise implementation of these activities by leading through example and fostering a growth mindset. Provide for the emotional, intellectual and nutritional needs of the children. Should you ever encounter challenges or assistance is needed, the teacher will refer child to the Program Manager and assist in the referral process by providing key insight on the development of the child being referred and support with targeted interventions. Collaborate closely with our age-level leads to craft age-appropriate daily activities, establish engaging routines, and design a captivating classroom space; Maintain a clean classroom environment by keeping room safe, orderly, and supplied with necessary materials and following the EEC health and safety regulations. Observe and document children’s progress regularly by conducting fall, winter, and spring checkpoints through Teaching Strategies Gold. Create progress reports in November, February, and June and host family conferences to discuss the progress, development, and finances of each individual child and their family. Keep the lines of communication open with parents, sharing daily updates on children's activities and observations, and enforcing Center policies with care and understanding when needed Foster a positive learning and work environment, working both independently and collaboratively to ensure a fulfilling experience for everyone involved; Attend staff meetings, parent meetings and conference meetings, and compensated in-service trainings; Maintain a professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement Ensure program procedures, policies, and regulations are met All other duties as assigned by your supervisor. *May be eligibleQualifications Uphold a passionate belief in The Community Group's mission, values, and educational model; Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Teacher Certification; Must be at least 21 years of age; Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred; Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus; ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; Strong interpersonal skills; Completed CORI, SORI and fingerprint scan in accordance with regulations set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care. Ability to demonstrate skills in collaborative planning and problem-solving; Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to demonstrate flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor; Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and experience with the implementation of developmentally appropriate strategies.
