Position Summary
The Paraprofessional (1:1 Aide) provides individualized instructional, behavioral, and social‑emotional support to students with IEPs. Working under the supervision of the Special Services Coordinator and teacher team, this role helps students access instruction, achieve learning goals, and build independence.
Key Responsibilities Provide one‑on‑one support aligned to student IEP goals Assist with implementing teacher‑designed lessons and interventions Track and document student progress, behavior, and performance data Support classroom routines, transitions, and student engagement Reinforce positive behaviors and provide structured support Assist with instructional tasks, materials, and classroom organization Maintain student supervision throughout the day (including transitions and recess) Communicate effectively with teachers, specialists, and staff Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment Attend meetings and professional development sessions
Qualifications
High school diploma required; college coursework preferred Experience working with children; special education experience preferred Strong communication, patience, and collaboration skills Ability to support students with diverse academic and behavioral needs Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success
Working Conditions May include supporting students with behavioral challenges or personal care needs (e.g., toileting, hygiene) May involve physical activity, including lifting, assisting with mobility, and frequent movement
