Job description

American Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are seeking a high school girls tennis development team assistant coach who is passionate about both tennis excellence and helping students grow physically, spiritually, socially, and intellectually.

Practices

3-4 times per week, 4-5:30 p.m. (5-6 hours per week), with occasional matches vs. other schools

Nature of the Role This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to quality tennis instruction, coaches are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a tennis background, with coach experience preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • An enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning
  • The ability to use sports as a tool to build better disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian character.
  • A commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Strong communication and team management skills
  • High energy and a warm, consistent presence at practices and matches
  • Experience preparing and delivering practices built from quality practice plans
  • Experience establishing and communicating clear learning objectives
  • Ability to use a variety of coaching and teaching methods and a willingness to continue learning and growing professionally
  • Faith and Mission Responsibilities In addition to coach responsibilities, coaches at AHS are expected to:
  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into sport instruction where appropriate
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission

Position Details

This position is available starting this summer, with the season start date of July 27, 2026.
