Position Summary
The assistant field hockey coach is responsible for aiding the Head Coach in all aspects of the Field Hockey program, including but not limited to 1. Support with planning of daily practices, team activities, game day preparation & individual player feedback; 2. Developing and working with goalkeepers throughout practices & games; 3. Performing video analysis and scouting of opponents alongside Head Coach; 4. Assisting with the development and implementation of a strength & conditioning program; 5. Mentoring of student-athletes with academic progress, campus involvement and social & community outreach; 6. Recruiting of talented student-athletes to Dickinson through discovery, evaluation, and communication both on campus and at recruiting events; 7. Work with Head coach on the recruiting databases and regular outreach to top-recruits as well as scheduling visits and assist with on-campus prospect clinics; 8. Developing and sharing content for the program’s social media, recruiting letters and alumni correspondence; 9. Assignment of a secondary duty within the department. Essential Functions Play a major role in the recruitment of talented student-athletes to Dickinson through discovery, evaluation and communication with potential recruits and their families. Work with Head coach on updating Front Rush/Slate database. Communicate the values of the College and the athletic program clearly and effectively throughout the recruiting process. 30% Assisting the Head Coach in coordinating daily practices. Teaching athletic skills and team concepts as well as assisting in the implementation of individual and team strategies for competitive situations. Responsible for co-scouting of opponents. 30% Management and mentoring of the current student-athletes in the program by cultivating a culture of accountability and team mentality by reinforcing the Head Coach’s expectations of priorities and standards of behavior within our student-athletes. 20% Develop original content and suggest creative ways to market and reach families, fans & perspective student-athletes. 10% Assignment of a secondary duty within the department. 10% Other
Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties as determined or assigned. Supervision Guides work of others who perform essentially the same work. May organize, set priorities, schedule and review work, but has no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance or make pay decisions. Education/Requirements Bachelor's degree, required. Master's degree, preferred. This position is subject to the Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearance consisting of the Pennsylvania Criminal History Record Information Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Certification, and Federal Criminal History Record Information Check pursuant to Pennsylvania law and Dickinson College policy. Valid driver's license. Experience 1 to 3 years of relevant experience. Independence of Action Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager; incumbent follows precedents and procedures, and may set priorities and organizes work within general guidelines established by supervisor/manager.
