Job description

Description Administer and interpret speech and language diagnostic tests Assess voice, articulation, fluency, language and oral motor functioning Determine therapy goals, objectives and strategies associated with treatment and intervention for designated students, based upon diagnostic assessments Provide direct therapy to assigned students in a one-to-one or small group setting in our preschool program Provide services to families within our Early Intervention program Assist in developing IEP goals and objectives Collaborate with classroom teachers in coordinating speech/language learning activities across clinical and academic environments Confer with audiologists to optimize the student’s use of listening technology Check transmitters/receivers and other listening technology Communicate regularly with parents to facilitate transfer of learning beyond the school setting Maintain all required student records and generate necessary reports Actively engage in professional development and keep current in the field Fulfill any ASHA or state requirements for licensure and Teaching Certificate Supervise SLP-A’s

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) Massachusetts State Licensure (or eligible to apply) Initial Teacher Certification in Massachusetts (or willing to apply) Experience working with students with hearing loss is desirable Ability to distinguish challenges due to hearing loss vs. additional disabilities when necessary Strong assessment and report-writing skills Experience using a variety of speech/language assessments Solid organizational and interpersonal skills Sincere desire to work in a listening and spoken language educational environment Ability to work in a collaborative environment with classroom teachers, SLPs, OTs, PTs, etc. Ability to collaborate effectively with families Experience with the IEP process Experience providing service through tele-practice is desirable Knowledge of the following: Normal speech and language development, child language disorders, and remediation techniques Auditory training habilitation Voice disorders and remediation Early literacy skills Language-based learning difficulties Social communication/pragmatic difficulties
