Job description
- The Opportunity The ASAP Navigator will provide individualized academic and personal support to a cohort of students enrolled in the ASAP program at Columbia Greene Community College.
- The Navigator plays an essential role in guiding students through their academic journey, helping them navigate challenges, and connecting them with resources to ensure timely graduation.
- Key Responsibilities: Offer personalized guidance on course selection, academic planning, and progression to ensure students meet their educational goals.
- Assist students in overcoming personal, financial, and academic obstacles by connecting them with appropriate campus and community resources.
- Develop and facilitate workshops on topics such as study skills, time management, career exploration, and financial literacy.
- Track student performance, maintain detailed records, and implement interventions as needed to promote student success.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to coordinate support services and advocate for student needs.
- Participate in the recruitment of new students and assist in orientation sessions to acclimate them to the program.
- Stay informed about best practices in academic advising and student support through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in counseling, education, social work, psychology, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience in academic advising, counseling, or student services within a higher education setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively Proficiency in using advising and student management software A strong commitment to supporting a diverse student population and enhancing student success. Salary and Benefit Information The anticipated salary for this position is $55,000 annually. Compensation will be based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience, education, and technical expertise.
