First Children School is looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join our team. In this rewarding role, you’ll work directly with students with special needs, providing individualized instruction, support, and encouragement to help them reach their full potential in the classroom and beyond.

What you'll do
You’ll work closely with classroom staff, therapists, and families to create a supportive and engaging educational environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and have diverse learning needs. Responsibilities may include developing lesson plans aligned with student IEPs, providing specialized instruction, implementing appropriate accommodations and behavioral strategies, training classroom assistants to provide one-to-one support, and participating in annual reviews and team meetings. You’ll help students build communication skills, confidence, independence, and academic success in a safe and positive learning environment.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or Early Childhood Education is required, along with a NJ Teacher of the Deaf Certification and a minimum of two years of teaching experience working with children. Candidates must also be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
