Why Your Role Matters

  • At the YMCA, we believe in nurturing confidence, strength, and a sense of belonging in every child.
  • As a Gymnastics Instructor, you help young athletes grow not only in their physical abilities but also in their courage, discipline, and self-expression.
  • You will lead classes for students of all levels, teaching foundational body movement, coordination, and muscle development while creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
  • This role also includes a dance component, allowing you to incorporate rhythm, musicality, and creative movement into your instruction—helping students develop grace, expression, and confidence in new ways.
  • Through your guidance, students build self-confidence, improve coordination and flexibility, and discover the joy of mastering new skills—all within a welcoming community that encourages them to reach their fullest potential.

We are looking for individuals who are available to work evenings and weekends.

  • Plan and deliver engaging gymnastics classes for children ages 3–12, teaching age-appropriate skills such as chants, jumps, basic stunts, and dance routines
  • Customize lessons to align with the developmental stage and skill level of each age group to ensure high engagement and progression
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that builds confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging among all participants
  • Promote safety by teaching and modeling proper techniques, warm-ups, spotting methods, and injury prevention practices
  • Prepare students for performances, community events, and showcases, coordinating choreography, attire, and event logistics
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the practice area and equipment, conducting regular safety checks
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and the Program Director regarding student progress, class updates, and upcoming events
  • Demonstrate leadership and professionalism, serving as a role model of sportsmanship, respect, and positivity.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization, representing the YMCA positively to internal and external stakeholders, strengthening relationships and promoting the organization’s impact.

    Market context

Texas classroom teacher roles stay competitive

In Texas, classroom teacher roles in early childhood settings are often driven by steady demand for qualified educators who can meet licensing and safety requirements. This role is competitive because employers look for a CDA for infants/toddlers or an early childhood-related associate or bachelor’s degree, plus a positive, energetic approach and clean background checks. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits on this platform to save research time, then confirm your credential matches the age group before applying.
