- About Southern Queens Parks Association (SQPA) Since 1976, SQPA has been dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, adults, and families in Southern Queens.
- Our Beacon Summer Camp offers students enriching, club-like experiences that promote academic achievement and leadership skills.
- SQPA Beacon Community Center is a school-based community center serving children age 6 and older.
- We are located at the Richard S.
- Grossley Campus, New Prep Middle School.
- Our programs are structured like clubs wherein the model offers youth choice in how they spend their time; provides rigorous instruction in sports, arts and youth leadership.
- NYC becomes the classroom—offering learning opportunities beyond school walls.
Position
Group Leader (Gr K–8) We're looking for a Group Leader to support grades K–8 students in both academics and enrichment activities. This in-person, seasonal position runs from July 1 - August 14th and offers hands-on experience in education and youth development, with the potential for continued employment.
- đź“ť Key Responsibilities Supervise students and ensure a safe, positive environment.
- Support instruction in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
- Assist with physical education, visual arts, and performing arts.
- Promote collaboration through group activities and research projects.
- Escort students between activities in a timely, orderly manner.
- Support certified staff with lesson planning and classroom prep.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and incidents.
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and program evaluations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Program Director(s).
