  • Range: $12.00 - $13.00 HourlyGENERAL FUNCTIONS Under the direction of the Youth Sports Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Youth Basketball Instructor should be able to motivate others in the areas of self-awareness and self-confidence through coaching and supervising, be able to motivate and effectively communicate with members, parents and students, and exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for refereeing, coaching, and/or supervising practices and games throughout the season. Teach basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and player development. Communicate weekly with families through the SportsYou App. Represent the YMCA professionally with players, parents, officials, and opposing teams. Develop rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, participants, and other staff. Able to work with other staff as part of a team. Attend all scheduled practices, games and end-of-season meeting. Provide a safe and welcoming environment. Enforce health and safety rules and maintain emergency readiness. Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary. Check youth sports equipment in storage closets and promptly report any problems. Set up and put away equipment before and after youth sports programs. Participation and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings is mandatory. Uphold the core values of the YMCA when dealing with people within the YMCA facilities and within the community. Work scheduled shifts. Arrangements for substitutes must be previously approved by the Youth Director.

  • EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 16 years of age. Basketball playing or coaching experience is required. Individuals considered for this job must have a passion for youth sports and participant development along with a willingness to provide a fun and safe environment. Must be able to exercise mature judgment and sound decision making, relate to people in a positive, but firm manner, and effectively communicate information. Must be observant and safety conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
