  • Our CS Pathways department in the School of Computer Science is searching for a STEM Ambassador Intern to assist with programs and projects that support CS Pathways’ efforts to build more equitable pathways for all students to study computer science, specifically in relation to our Pittsburgh area initiatives.
  • This role will support the work of the Senior Outreach Program Manager and in support of fulfilling that mission.
  • Examples of some of our programs may be found on our website: www.cs.cmu.edu/cs-pathways, with specific emphasis for this role on STEM Ambassadors.
  • Your core responsibilities will include: Assist with the delivery of programs Help with supply management and distribution to local sites Assist with data collection/evaluation activities Curriculum facilitation, site support and community building with participants Develop enrichment activities and event management Social media management and marketing idea brainstorming and implementation Attend regular meetings with supervisor and team Act as an ambassador for CS Pathways in the community as appropriate Other duties as assigned Adaptability, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent experience Passion for increasing educational access, especially to computer science High emotional intelligence Ability to work with colleagues, volunteers, and young adults from a diverse set of backgrounds with respect, kindness, and a good sense of humor Strong orientation to detail Ability to acquire Pennsylvania Act 153 clearances Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to and from community sites

Preferred Qualifications

Opportunity open to all majors, with preference given to those studying social work, student affairs, the humanities, and the social sciences. Availability to work limited evening and weekend hours, with most work happening during traditional business hours.
