Job description

The University of Southern Maine’s Athletics Department is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

The Strength and Conditioning Coordinator [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eOalXE_mdF_Z3n_dgEc_vJflLv7yu2mk/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=102831109340735176035&rtpof=true&sd=true] is responsible for the development, implementation, and supervision of comprehensive strength and conditioning programs that enhance the performance, health, and safety of student-athletes participating in varsity athletics at the University of Southern Maine. This position supports the mission of NCAA Division III athletics by prioritizing the holistic development of student-athletes while promoting competitive excellence, injury prevention, and overall wellness.

The Strength & Conditioning Coach will collaborate closely with head coaches, athletic healthcare staff and athletics administration to ensure training programs are sport-specific, evidence-based, and aligned with the goals of the department and the philosophy of NCAA.

This is a full-time in person position on our Gorham campus with an annual salary of up to $48,000, with nights and weekends as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning, Health Fitness, Physical Education or related field
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching/coaching fitness, wellness and strength & conditioning
  • Understanding of the role of fitness and wellness play in an academic setting

License/Certifications

  • Certification from a nationally recognized Strength and Conditioning organization (e.g., CSCS, SCCC)
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid, AED
  • Valid driver’s license
