Position Summary
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Hockey Camp Instructor is expected to act as a role model and ambassador for McGill by demonstrating the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through participation in and instruction of various hockey camp physical activities for children ages 5-15. Duties Participate in camp orientation Greet and welcome campers as they arrive Liaise with parents regarding campers’ specific needs and progresses Lead and supervise campers and facilitate their participation during hockey practices and other related activities in order to create a positive and memorable experience for all participants Coordinate activities to meet objectives within an established operating schedule Assist Camp Specialists with hockey practices Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp. Communicate all issues requiring attention to supervisor immediately. Liaise with the Winsor clinic staff regarding incidents requiring immediate medical attention Ensure safe movement of campers from one activity to another throughout the sports complex/arena. Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Knowledgeable in a camp environment an asset Bilingual in French and English Experience working with youth Completed Safe Sport Training course and True Sport Clean course Experience playing hockey at the major junior, junior A or university level Selected candidates must successfully pass their criminal background check to be considered for this position.
