Position Summary
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Hockey Camp On-Ice Specialist will be expected to act as a role model and ambassador for McGill when demonstrating the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through a combination of participation and instruction of hockey practices and camp physical activities to children ranging from ages 7-12 years old. Duties Participate in camp orientation Greet and welcome campers as they arrive Liaise with parents regarding campers’ specific needs and progress Lead and ensure campers and facilitate their participation in the hockey on-ice practices and other related activities to create a positive and memorable experience Create and coordinate detailed lesson plans for on-ice hockey instructions for 6 one hour sessions of 30 campers per session. Lessons must be adapted to different age groups and campers' abilities Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp, ensure stressful situations are addressed in a timely manner to immediate supervisor. When necessary communicate with the Winsor Clinic therapist staff regarding incidents requiring immediate medical attention Monitor and ensure safe movement of campers from one activity to another throughout the sports complex and arena. Maintain communication with Section Leaders regarding any issues requiring their attention Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Knowledgeable in a camp environment an asset Completed Safe Sport Training course and True Sport Clean Experience playing hockey at the major junior, junior A or university level Experience coaching hockey at the youth level Familiar with administrative procedures an asset Ability to multi-task Minimum Education and Experience: High School Diploma 2 Years Related Experience Hourly Salary: (AMUSE C) $35.00 Estimated Number of Work Hours per Week: 40 (Part time) Position Start Date: 2026-08-14 Position End Date: 2026-08-21 Deadline to Apply: 2026-06-11 This position is covered by the AMUSE collective agreement.
