In this role, you’ll help create a safe, engaging environment where the child can learn, play, and build confidence while giving their family peace of mind.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Caregiver, you’ll work one-on-one with a child in their home, and out in the community doing fun, everyday type tasks. You’ll support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome or developmental needs. The goal is to help them learn and have fun, while helping them thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. Schedule and Pay Options: We’re hiring for several positions with families all over the Metro area. We offer: Weekly placements: Consistent families, typically during weekday afternoons or evenings Afternoon Placements: Are our most often needed schedule of 2-6p, 3-6p or 4-7p Some Weekend shifts: Typically 4-6 hr shifts a day Pay varies by position but typically $19/hr What You’ll Do: Provide supportive, meaningful companionship to children with special needs Encourage growth and independence through play, reading, and creative activities Implement care plans as directed by your local manager Observe and document the child’s mood, behavior, and well-being, reporting updates to the supervisor Communicate regularly with the family Offer a calm, positive presence during times of loneliness, frustration, or change Ensure safety during all activities and report emergencies promptly

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent At least 1 year of related experience (personal, volunteer, or professional) supporting individuals with special needs or providing companionship Must have a reliable vehicle with a valid drivers license Able to pass a criminal background check You'll be great if you are: Warm, patient, and genuinely enjoys connecting with children Creative and engaging Dependable and communicative Comfortable working independently Has reliable transportation and can provide references Why Jovie?
