Overview

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is an award-winning, nonprofit, nonsectarian human services organization founded in 1943. Today, it is the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. WJCS delivers innovative programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds throughout the county.

We are currently seeking an Early Learning Specialist (ELS) for our Summer Fun in Hartley Park Program to join our team. In this role, the ELS will support the set-up and break-down of program materials while actively engaging families throughout each session.

This is a part-time position (8 hours per week) paying $20.00 per hour and running for 8 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Attend Summer Fun in Hartley Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am-1:00pm for 8 weeks beginning in June.
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of program materials and activities.
  • Facilitate and model positive parent-child interactions.
  • Participate in weekly training with supervisor and co-workers.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to accept and implement constructive supervision individually and within the training group
  • Ability to complete required training
  • Interest in working with parents and young children
  • Demonstrated warmth, patience, and professionalism
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to bend, kneel, lift 30 pounds, climb stairs, and sit on floor
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to relate well with supervisors, program officials, employees and others
  • Basic computer skills and is comfortable using mobile apps
