General purpose

This purpose of this position is to support the viability of all education programs in the Teacher Education Department tracks. The Administrative Assistant will assist in day-to-day administrative operations resolving procedural issues and providing support for both current and prospective students and faculty in the program. The Administrative Assistant works directly with the Molloy community members to support and/or resolve routine and non-routine issues.

  • Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Maintains files and databases needed for NYS Teaching Certification and assists Molloy's NYS Certification Officer in recommending teacher candidates for certification.
  • Prepares correspondence, maintains files and databases - schedules and confirms appointments, share documents and other materials, arranges travel, tracks expenses, and performs general office duties. Assists with processing of workload and revisions to workload as needed.
  • Verifies prerequisite courses for graduate admissions.
  • Assists the Chairperson with recruitment efforts including such events as Open Houses and Information Sessions.
  • Assists the Education Field Office in securing observation placements.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of Teach Education Department webpages.
  • Required minimum qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 to 5 years of work related experience
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Responsibility for public contact
  • Daily contact requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
