Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Coach

McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Coach for the Fall 2026 season, which runs from September through the end of October.

McLean School has, for over 70 years, helped bright students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college-preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction.

The Boys Junior Varsity Coach is responsible for overseeing the team, serving as a positive role model, and supporting the School's Mission and Core Values.

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience as a youth, high school, and/or club-level coach, experience with providing differentiated instruction to athletes of all levels, effective written and oral communication skills, knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of competitive soccer, an ability to build relationships and work well with others, and a sharp perspective on the role of athletics in the educational experience. Essential Duties Be a positive role model Plan, direct, and administer policies for all team practices and matches Communicate team expectations at the start of the season Design training sessions that are dynamic, engaging, and provide a challenge Create an environment of respect that is rooted in hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and supporting teammates Communicate with athletes and parents Ensure proper safety measures are observed when conducting team activities Attend seasonal coaches' meetings Give appropriate attention, care, and follow-up to student-athletes who are injured or ill, including filling out injury report forms McLean School is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, family responsibilities, disability, genetic status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Requirements

The ideal candidate should have coaching experience at youth, high school, or club levels and effective communication skills. Knowledge of soccer fundamentals and the ability to build relationships are also important.
