About the role

The coach is responsible for overseeing the Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball team, planning practices, and administering matches. They must serve as a positive role model while ensuring athlete safety and maintaining communication with parents.

McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach (Grades 9-12) for the Fall 2026 season, which runs from August through the end of October.

The Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach is responsible for overseeing the team, serving as a positive role model, and supporting the School's Mission and Core Values.

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience as a youth, high school, and/or club-level coach, experience with providing differentiated instruction to athletes of all levels, effective written and oral communication skills, knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of competitive volleyball, an ability to build relationships and work well with others, and a sharp perspective on the role of athletics in the educational experience. Requirements

The ideal candidate should have experience coaching at the youth, high school, or club level with a strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals. Effective communication skills and the ability to provide differentiated instruction to athletes of all levels are preferred.
