Department Summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for Spanish Adjunct Instructor Positions for Academic Year 2026-2027.

The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and to assist in further development of the Spanish program.

Position Overview

The number of vacancies is dependent on student enrollment, division needs, and dean approval. Your application cannot be considered until all required documents have been received.

Adjunct faculty develops courses, plans classes, implements and evaluates teaching/learning objective and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction for online, hybrid and face-to-face classes in Spanish at all levels of proficiency; comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, semester teaching evaluations, and other established procedures; return college reports, credentials, and other requested documentation in a timely manner; as well as effectively communicate with appropriate staff and the Spanish program coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics or Literature, Spanish Education, or related field.
  • EC-12 LOTE – Spanish Teaching Certification.
  • Experience in developing and teaching Spanish courses.
  • Availability to teach day and evening face-to-face courses.
  • Experience teaching online and hybrid courses.
  • Experience teaching dual-credit, Early College High School or high school courses.
  • Willingness to teach Early College High School courses, Beginning and Intermediate Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
  • Knowledge of heritage speaker's pedagogy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics or Literature, Spanish Education, or related field.
  • Experience working with all individuals.
  • Experience with recruitment and retention of students from many different backgrounds.
  • Experience in developing and implementing service learning and experiential learning in curricular and co-curricular settings.
  • Experience in service activities for university and community.

Job Duties
