Act as a teacher in the absence of the regular instructor, following established routines and lesson plans. Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of children while maintaining professional communication with staff and parents.

Job summary

In the absence of a Teacher, act as teacher and carry out all responsibilities of the teaching position for all or part of the school day.

Essential duties

1. Follow the routines and procedures of the classroom teacher, to ensure the highest level of comfort for the children. 2. Pay careful attention to the physical and emotional well being of each child, demonstrating warmth and consideration for children and parents. 3. Share any difficulties or unusual occurrences with the classroom teacher, Assistant Director or Director 4. Follow the classroom teacher’s directions and lesson plans in implementing projects and activities. 5. Become familiar with and carry out all school routines and policies.

Other duties

6. Provide substitute care in other classrooms on an as needed basis. 7. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training. 8. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. 9. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. 10. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material. 11. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures. 12. Other duties as assigned by management.
