Position Summary

The College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Memory Wellness Center (MWC) Activity Assistant in Boca Raton, FL The Activity Assistant supports the planning and implementation of structured, therapeutic activities for adults with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia in a specialized adult day program. This role focuses on enhancing participants’ quality of life by promoting engagement, maintaining functional abilities, and ensuring a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred to assist with personal care needs. Key Responsibilities: Assist in developing and leading daily activity programs tailored to individuals with Alzheimer’s and related dementias Facilitate group and one-on-one activities such as music, art, exercise, reminiscence, and sensory stimulation Encourage participation while respecting each participant’s abilities, preferences, and limitations Provide supervision to ensure participant safety at all times Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs), including toileting, feeding, mobility, and hygiene (especially if CNA certified) Monitor and report changes in participants’ physical, emotional, or cognitive status to appropriate staff Help maintain a calm, structured, and dementia-friendly environment Set up and clean activity areas and materials before and after programs Support behavior management using redirection and person-centered care techniques Communicate effectively with team members, participants, and family members as needed Follow all program policies, safety guidelines, and infection control procedures Perform other job-related duties as assigned Explore Living in Palm Beach County The goal is to provide local employers and new employees in the area a comprehensive guide with places to live. Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of appropriate experience required. A CNA certification is strongly preferred. Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia highly preferred. Knowledge of dementia care best practices and person-centered approaches. Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Basic organizational and time-management skills.
