Job Description

We are seeking a caring, patient, and reliable educator to work with three children ages 6, 7, and 7 in a homeschool extension learning environment. This position focuses on supporting academic growth, social-emotional development, communication skills, and engaging hands-on learning experiences. This role includes working closely with one child with mild autism and speech delays, so experience supporting children with autism, communication delays, behavioral support, or special needs is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is nurturing, energetic, creative, and enjoys building meaningful relationships with children through structured learning, outdoor exploration, community activities, and social skill development.

Responsibilities

  • Support homeschool extension learning activities and educational goals
  • Plan engaging daily activities and hands-on learning experiences
  • Encourage communication, social skills, independence, and emotional growth
  • Provide individualized support as needed, including one-on-one assistance
  • Lead outdoor play and physical activities daily
  • Take children on library visits twice weekly and occasional field trips
  • Create a safe, positive, nurturing, and structured environment
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and daily activities
  • Support cooperative group learning and peer interaction

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children ages 5 and up
  • Experience supporting children with autism, speech delays, or special needs preferred
  • Strong patience, compassion, and communication skills
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage daily routines independently
  • Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate activities
  • Comfortable supervising children during outings and community activities
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Background in education, child development, special education, behavioral therapy, or related field is a plus
