Job description

Description St. Rose of Lima Catholic Academy is seeking caring, dependable, and flexible Teacher Aides to assist teachers and support students throughout the school day. This role is designed to help create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment that allows all students to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.

Teacher Aides work under the direction of classroom teachers and administration to provide classroom assistance, student supervision, instructional support, and organizational help across grade levels. Depending on student and classroom needs, aides may also provide targeted support to students who require additional academic, behavioral, or emotional assistance.

This role requires flexibility, professionalism, initiative, and a willingness to support the overall mission and daily operations of the school.

***This is a part-time non-benefit eligible position***

Requirements

  • Classroom Support Assist classroom teachers with daily instructional activities and classroom routines.
  • Support teachers in maintaining a positive, structured, and productive learning environment.
  • Help students remain engaged, focused, and on task during lessons and independent work time.
  • Clarify directions and student questions under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Facilitate small-group instruction and supervised learning activities.
  • Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and maintaining clean learning spaces.
  • Prepare instructional materials, copies, packets, and classroom resources.
  • Help organize student work, bulletin boards, supplies, and learning materials.
  • Support smooth classroom transitions throughout the day.
  • Student Support Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially based on the direction and needs identified by the classroom teacher and administration.
  • Build positive relationships with students while helping maintain clear expectations and boundaries.
  • Assist students in remaining successfully included within the classroom environment whenever possible.
  • Support students during moments of frustration, dysregulation, or transition.
  • Communicate observations and concerns regarding student progress or behavior to the classroom teacher and administration.
  • Supervision & School Support Supervise students during recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, transitions, assemblies, Mass, and other school activities as assigned.
  • Help maintain student safety and appropriate behavior in common areas.
  • Escort classes or students to specials, lunch, recess, or other locations as needed.
  • Assist with school-wide events, activities, testing, and special programs.
  • Help ensure classrooms and shared spaces remain organized and orderly.
  • Expectations Teach and act in alignment with the doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church, and uphold the mission, philosophy, and policies of the Catholic school.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administration, counselors, interventionists, and support staff.
  • Follow the direction and instructional priorities established by the classroom teacher.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing student and classroom needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism regarding student information.
  • Foster a supportive, respectful, and faith-filled environment for all students.
  • Be proactive, dependable, organized, and willing to assist wherever needed throughout the school day.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in early childhood education preferred. Experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational or childcare setting. Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred. Strong cultural awareness and ability to work respectfully with diverse families. Comfortable using technology for communication, instruction, and learning. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
