Relief staff provide essential coverage during staff absences, vacations, holidays, emergencies, and other staffing needs, ensuring that quality care and supervision remain uninterrupted.
Position Summary
The Relief Treatment Associate provides direct supervision, support, and guidance to youth residing in our treatment programs. This position is designed for individuals seeking flexible scheduling opportunities while making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and adolescents. Relief staff work on an as-needed basis and may be called upon to cover a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Essential Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of youth. Serve as a positive role model and mentor. Support daily routines, structure, and life skills development. Assist with recreational, educational, and treatment-related activities. Maintain appropriate resident supervision in accordance with state licensing requirements and agency policies. Respond appropriately to behavioral incidents and crisis situations using approved intervention techniques. Complete required documentation and incident reports accurately and timely. Communicate effectively with supervisors and treatment team members. Promote a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment. Relief Staff Expectations Relief staff may be scheduled to: Cover shifts when full-time staff members call off. Cover shifts when staff members are on vacation. Work holidays and weekends as needed. Fill open full-time or part-time positions until vacancies are filled. Provide additional staffing during emergencies or crisis situations. Work other available shifts as requested. Please Note: Relief positions do not guarantee a specific number of hours per week. Individuals who demonstrate flexibility and availability are more likely to receive additional work opportunities. Relief staff are expected to work any shift they have agreed to accept, including holidays when scheduled. Relief staff are expected to work a minimum of three shifts per month when shifts are available. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Experience working with youth, behavioral health, residential care, education, or social services preferred. Ability to complete required agency training, including CPI, CPR, First Aid, and other mandatory certifications. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis situations. Physical Requirements Ability to actively supervise youth throughout the shift. Ability to respond quickly during emergencies. Ability to participate in approved physical intervention techniques when necessary and trained. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Why Join BUMFS?
